Purpleheart Everywhere

I was in the liquor store looking for a few nice wines to enjoy over the weekend with a special dinner I had planned.  I am hardly what one would consider a “connoisseur”, however, I know what I like and I like to think I’ve developed a somewhat decent taste for what’s good in wine and what is not so good…

I will also admit, being an artist, I have been known to try a new wine simply because I like the look of the label.  And to be honest, I can’t think of a time when choosing wine in this way has let me down!  A real wine aficionado might be offended by this confession of mine and if so, I’m sorry!  But it’s the truth…

So, when I saw this label, I HAD to try it.  And guess what?  My technique worked yet again.  It was a very good wine!  I served it with a pasta dish and it went over very well.

As you can see from this close up, I still have yet to master the art of pouring without dripping… I do the little turn-thingy at the end of my pour and everything, but… apparently I do it wrong!  Oh well, practice makes perfect, right?  If that’s true then I should have my technique down in no time.

The label gives a description of the wine and also mentions why this name was chosen.  The winemaker is a Vietnam Veteran and also donates a portion of proceeds to the Military Order of the Purple Heart annually.  What a wonderful idea!  When I read that and tasted the wine, I knew I’d be purchasing this wine again in the future…

It’s so nice to be reminded that there are others who feel as I do and feel the need to honor the selfless and brave men and women who sacrifice so much to defend our country.  They are our true heroes!

Have a great week, everyone!
